Cloutier breaks record – that is Clooch-eh

Chris Cloutier made history on Saturday during the Tar Heels’ 18-13 win over Loyola in the NCAA lacrosse championship semifinals.  Chris scored nine goals Saturday — the single-game record for the NCAA lacrosse championship weekend. He set a championship weekend record for goals scored by an individual in a single game with nine, and he did it on just 13 shots.   Cloutier — the Tar Heels’ second leading goal scorer entering Saturday’s game — joined some elite company, as only two other players have matched the nine-goal mark in an NCAA tournament game, regardless of round. Syracuse legend Gary Gait (1988) and Brown’s Oliver Marti (1992) also completed the feat.
North Carolina, will face the winner of the second semifinal between Brown and Maryland in Monday’s championship game.
We cannot express in words how proud we are of your accomplishments.  Good luck Monday.
